Millennial Music Memories

The good ol days right? Uh oh, that's exactly what my father would have said and exactly what I promised myself I would never say. We rocked our baggy flares, pumps and purple lipstick (and badly bleached hair ), us elder millennials (thanks Iliza Schlesinger for this fabulous term) have experienced a musical evolution like no other generation. Let's take a rollicking trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the quirky music trends, tech mishaps, and epic dance-offs that defined our musical journey.
Dial-up Dilemmas: Remember the struggle of trying to download your favorite tracks with an internet dial up connection slower than dirt. And just when the progress bar was almost full, someone would innocently pick up the phone, disconnecting the internet and shattering our musical dreams! We eventually moved away from the walkman, to the discman and then finally, October 2001 arrived and we were introduced to the most amazing thing since fried bread (sliced bread is overrated) - the ipod. With 10 whole hours of battery life and 5gb of storage enabling you to store and play 1000 songs. This is
where all of our dreams came true - a shuffle feature and no adverts!
The Mixtape Magic: Creating the perfect mixtape was an art form! We'd spend hours crafting the ideal sequence of songs to express our feelings, whether it was a crush confession or a heartbreak lament. And the proud mixtape makers even curated the most stylish tape cover, only to have the recipient ask, "Why is there a dinosaur riding a skateboard on the front?"
The Great Headphone Tangle-Up: Every millennial has experienced the legendary headphone tangle—those seemingly indestructible knots that took a lifetime to unravel. It was like a bizarre art form to figure out how your headphones could possibly get that tangled in your pocket. If only we knew the power and possibilities of bluetooth ear buds
Conclusion: Its inevitable, our world moves on with or without us. As millennials, our musical journey has been filled with quirks, laughs, and a healthy dose of nostalgia. From mixtapes to Napster and Emo anthems to emojis, we've embraced every trend and mishap with open arms and a sense of humor. Our love for music, no matter how we listen to it, unites us and reminds us of the simpler times when all we needed was a good beat to get us through the day.
So, fellow millennials, let's continue dancing to the rhythm of life, enjoying every musical misadventure along the way and embrace your inner 90s kid. It all comes back around anyway, am seeing those baggy flares popping again....
